The Artist

Biography

Peeko is a Chicago-based artist with a background in cultural production, shaped across cinema, museums, and digital culture.

He began his career in Brazil working alongside leading figures in film and theater, including Fernanda Torres (Best Actress, Cannes Film Festival; Golden Globe winner) and Fernanda Montenegro (Academy Award nominee; International Emmy winner), gaining early exposure to the rigor and depth of artistic practice at the highest level.

His path soon moved into the museum field, where art shifted from theory into lived experience. At the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum (MAC), the iconic institution designed by Oscar Niemeyer, he worked with art education teams and led gallery mediators during major international exhibitions. These ranged from contemporary dialogues with classical Greek sculpture to presentations of modern masters such as Miró, alongside key Brazilian postmodern artists including Hélio Oiticica and Lygia Clark. During this period, he also worked at CCBB – Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil and FILE – the International Festival of Electronic Language, engaging directly with large-scale exhibitions at the intersection of art and technology.

Alongside his work in the arts, Peeko built a parallel career in digital strategy, beginning with a technical background in web design in 2001 and evolving into international marketing. Over the past decade, he has contributed to the launch and growth of global disruptive businesses, with a particular focus on music streaming platforms in recent years.

Despite long proximity to artistic practice, he remained intentionally in the background for many years. In 2025, that position shifted, and he began to share his own work.

Context & Perspective

The name Peeko originates from “Picolino,” a childhood nickname given by his sister – a small detail that remained as everything else evolved.

Having moved across distinct worlds – from a quiet, rural region shaped by steel industry and farm culture, to the vibrant intensity of Rio de Janeiro and the relentless metropolitan energy of São Paulo; from the idyllic, sun-soaked beaches of Maceió to the austere modernist geometry of Brasília; and later to the shifting landscapes of Miami, the introspective calm of Seattle, and the grounded architectural presence of Chicago – his perspective is informed by continuous movement between contrasting cultural and physical environments.

Peeko’s work reflects a quiet but deliberate voice: observant, restrained, and subtly irreverent.
